Let’s make a manga-part two

This post is part two in the Let’s Make a Manga! series.

Have you ever wanted to create your own beautiful manga full of rich story line, interesting characters, and outstanding art that everyone will love? In the new “Let’s Make a Manga” series, find out how to make eye-catching covers, story plots that will make your readers beg for more, panel your manga, and create characters with personality.

Hello, everyone! For part two in the series I will go over how to create interesting characters with personality!

Part Two- Creating Characters

When creating characters, it’s your decision on whether you come up with their personality or their design first. Oftentimes, characters will look like their personality, but it’s always funny when you have a character that looks mean but is actually really quiet and sweet!

When I design characters, I think about things like where they’re from, how they were raised, and so on. For example, a character born into a rich family wouldn’t be wearing overalls or ripped jeans, would they?

If a character is really serious all the time and rarely smiles, try to think about what might have caused them to be like that. Maybe something really terrible happened when they were little or something. Thinking about these kinds of things are good!

Deciding whether to make a character male or female can be tricky at times, but here’s a tip: Just think of which would better display their personality and go with your gut!

And that’s all for now! I will post part three of the series the week after next!
