Painting in greyscale

Hello Everyone!

In this post I will be drawing just another illustration, but this time I can only use grayscale to paint! This challenge is a very fun idea for people who use a lot of color in their drawings, and I would recommend it to all aspiring artists.

My Drawing Process

First I use a dark grey to draw the line art. I drew a girl with some feathers and leaves in her ear because I just felt like it for some reason. One thing that usually takes me longer than usual is the nose, but I like to think I’m getting better at that.

Next, I color the person using several shades of gray. I use a lighter gray for the base skin color and use a darker gray for the hair and shirt. Oh, and I also gave her some sort of mark by her cheek. (Again, just because) I shade according to the light source I picked.
